LAS VEGAS, N.M. – The Las Vegas, New Mexico, area Subway® restaurants and Manger Regina Denardo is pleased to announce that wrestling senior Easton Hargrave has been named the Subway Eat Fresh Student-Athlete of the Week on Monday (Feb. 9).
Hargrave went 3-0 on the week as the senior helped make history in his final home matches with two pins and a decision. After a second period pin of Riley Argyle at CSU-PuebloTuesday (Feb. 3), he stopped Chadron State's momentum on Thursday (Feb. 5). With the Eagles climbing back to close within 12-10, he battled back for a 6-4 decision at 184 of Dylan Fors. With the 22-10 win, it was the first Highlands win against Chadron State since the reinstatement of the program.
On Friday (Feb. 6), he brought the Cowboys within 18-15 with a second period pin of Ian Cheatum of Colorado School of Mines. For the seaon, he is 16-9 and 13-2 since the calander turned to 2015.
New for the 2014-2015 school year, a Subway® Student-Athlete of the Week will be chosen every week for the athletic year. Every student-athlete chosen for the weekly award will be eligible to win the Subway Eat Fresh® Student-Athlete of the Year award following the 2014-2015 academic year. While the weekly award will be based on athletic prowess, the yearly award will be bestowed upon an athlete based on success not only on the playing field, but also in the classroom and community involvement.
