LAS VEGAS, N.M.- The Las Vegas, New Mexico, area Subway® restaurants and Manger Regina Denardo is pleased to announce that Women's Basketball player Senior Michelle Traynham from Belen, New Mexico has been named the Subway Eat Fresh Student-Athlete of the Week
Traynham has started this basketball season off strong with averaging 18.3 points per game, shooting 40% from the arc and 65% from the free throw line. She has also has grabbed a total of 17 rebounds, 13 has been defense.
On Nov 24, the cowgirls faced off against in-state rivals Eastern New Mexico. Traynham came out of the game with 22 points and 8 rebounds. She shot 40% from the arc and 100% from the free throw line.
In its second year, the Subway® Student-Athlete of the Week will be chosen every week for the athletic year. Every student-athlete chosen for the weekly award will be eligible to win the Subway Eat Fresh® Student-Athlete of the Year award following the 2015-2016 academic year. While the weekly award will be based on athletic prowess, the yearly award will be bestowed upon an athlete based on success not only on the playing field, but also in the classroom and community involvement.
