LAS VEGAS, N.M.- The Las Vegas, New Mexico area Subway® restaurants and Manger Regina Denardo is pleased to announce that track and field’s Salcia Slack has been named the Subway Eat Fresh Student-Athlete of the Week.
Slack was a part of team that brought home the Division II Challenge trophy by 38 points over Nebraska-Kearney. During the DII Challenge Slack jumped a remarkable 12.59 meters in the triple jump. Her mark was long enough to give her an automatic entry to the triple jump at the national meet and is currently leading the nation in the event. The closest mark to Slack’s at the DII Challenge was at 11.80 meters.
Slack also won the 60m hurdles with a score of 8.66, which is 0.21 seconds faster than the second place finisher.
In its second year, the Subway® Student-Athlete of the Week will be chosen every week for the athletic year. Every student-athlete chosen for the weekly award will be eligible to win the Subway Eat Fresh® Student-Athlete of the Year award following the 2015-2016 academic year. While the weekly award will be based on athletic prowess, the yearly award will be bestowed upon an athlete based on success not only on the playing field, but also in the classroom and community involvement. Congrats Salcia Slack.
