LAS VEGAS, N.M. – The Las Vegas, New Mexico, area Subway® restaurants and Manger Regina Denardo is pleased to announce that soccer freshman Mallory Bostic is the Subway Eat Fresh Student-Athlete of the Week honor. Also announced Tuesday (Oct. 28), Bostic also won the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week award.

She has been a big part of the New Mexico Highlands soccer team (9-3-4, 6-2-4 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) that is undefeated in its last eight games (5-0-3), a new school record. In helping the Cowgirls go 2-0-1 this past week on the pitch, Bostic scored the first goal of the game against Adams State (Oct. 21) and at Colorado Mesa (Oct. 24) – both games being 2-1 Highlands victories. Against the Grizzlies, Bostic was able to take a pass from teammate Anyssa Dagnino while Dagnino was being tackled to score from straight on about 15 yards out. Against the Mavericks, Bostic scored unassisted after her long shot was deflected over the goalie's head.
 
For the season, Bostic is now tied with classmate Hannah Dahlquist for second place on the team with three goals. The Cowgirls officially qualified for the RMAC Tournament Sunday (Oct. 26).

New for the 2014-2015 school year, a Subway® Student-Athlete of the Week will be chosen every week for the athletic year. Every student-athlete chosen for the weekly award will be eligible to win the Subway Eat Fresh® Student-Athlete of the Year award following the 2014-2015 academic year. While the weekly award will be based on athletic prowess, the yearly award will be bestowed upon an athlete based on success not only on the playing field, but also in the classroom and community involvement.
