Art Abreu Jr. enters his sixth season as the linebackers coach for NMHU football. The Las Vegas, New Mexico, native graduated from Highlands with a bachelor's degree in Physical Education and is currently pursuing his master’s degree in Athletic Administration.
Coach Abreu was a decorated football player at Robertson HS, where he was the starting tight end on state runner up team for the Cardinals his senior season. While playing for the Cardinals, Coach Abreu was Northern New Mexico Player of the Year for in the NMAA Triple-A division as well as District 2-AAA MVP.
Coach Abreu played one season at the New Mexico Military Institute as a defensive lineman before transferring to Highlands where he played tight end for three seasons for the Cowboys.
