The NMHU Soccer Team came out Sunday morning with a purpose as they took on RMAC foe Regis University. The Cowgirls are not only playing for wins and losses, but the are also playing for a RMAC Tournament birth. The Cowgirls are sitting at 4-4-2 and tied with Fort Lewis College for 5th place in the RMAC. The top 6 teams will move on to the Conference Tournament, and the Cowgirls held up their end on Sunday afternoon.

The Cowgirls started out playing well with Regis and kept attacking their Goal Keeper with a barrage of shots throughout the game. The Cowgirls had 11 total shots with 10 of the on frame. The game stayed pretty tight throughout most of the first period until Senior Lativa Harash hit the bulls-eye on a Free Kick. to score the only Goal of the First Period. Lativa placed the kick right under the cross bar for the goal.

After Half-Time the Cowgirls came out ready to put the game away with 2 quick Goals to make it 3-0. The first Goal came from Monica Vasquez off an assist from Jeannette Ortiz. That was Monica's 8th Goal of the season. The Final Goal for the Cowgirls came off a Header by Adrianna Calderon from assists by Monica Vasquez and Jeannette Ortiz.

Regis then woke up and scored two quick goals of their own to make the game 3-2 with 10 minutes to play. The Cowgirls stepped up and played some sound Defense to keep the Rangers away from Goal Keeper McKaila Dorman, and when an occasional shot would come through McKaila was there to put a stop to it, Dorman finished with 9 saves on the day.

The Cowgirls kept their place in the RMAC with the win and close out their season with two Home Games this Week. The Cowgirls take on Fort Lewis College on Friday @ 2:00pm this Friday, and  will face Colorado School of Mines @ 11:30am on Sunday morning. The Sunday game will be Senior Day for the Cowgirls, who will be losing several Seniors. So come on out to cheer on your Cowgirls this week as the fight to make it to the post season.
