The NMHU Cowgirls have had a rough start to say the least this season, but that wasn't the case on Thursday night as the Cowgirls overcame a 18 point defecit to beat the ASC Grizzlies 80-75 in the John A. Wilson Complex.
Delicia Utsey scored a season high 29 points, making 7 of 9 3-point attempts. She also hit 10 of 16 from the field. She finished the game with 29 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. Jessica Armijo didn't do to shabby herself, as she scored 18 points. Armijo finished the game with 18 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assisits and 1 steal. Pitching in with 17 of her own was Veronica Lerma. Lerma finished the game with 17 points, 2 rebounds, and 4 assists.
The Cowgirls played very hard and never gave up, even when it looked like the Grizzlies were going to pull away the Cowgirls answered back with some tenacious defense or some spectacular sharp shooting by their offense. The Cowgirls will be back in action this Saturday as they take on the Lady Thunderwolves from Colorado State @ Pueblo. The game starts @ 6:00 pm, see you there!!!
