The Cowgirl Soccer team played host to the #5 nationally ranked Fort Lewis Skyhawks on 10/24 at Perkins Stadium. The last time the two teams met up on Skyhawks territory, the Cowgirls were on the bad end of a lopsided score, 6-0. The Cowgirls weren't able to come out with the win this time but they played a tight game with the #5 team as the score reflected in the 2-0 game.
The two teams played a very physical game, which was proven by the fouls, 12 for the Skyhawks and 10 for the Cowgirls. The Cowgirls had eight shots on the day with most of them, six, on goal while the Skyhawks had 10 shots with six of them on goal.
The Cowgirls tried playing catch-up in the second half after only taking two shots in the first period.
Both of the Skyhawks' goals came from free kicks the Skyhawks were given.
In the net for the Cowgirls for the entire game was
Amanda Rose Johnson. She had four saves with two goals allowed.
The Cowgirls will end their regular season on 10/ 29 as they play host to the ThunderWolves of CSU- Pueblo at Perkins Stadium. Kick -off is set for 3pm. Be sure to come support your Cowgirls as they honor their seniors.
