The Cowgirl basketball team took to the road to take on the Zias of Eastern New Mexico University on 11/27. The Cowgirls came out on the bottom of the 73-62 score with the Zias winning.
The two teams traded the lead throughout the first half with the Cowgirls taking the biggest lead, of eight points, with less than a minute left in play. The Zias took the lead with less than 13 minutes left in the second half and didn't look back from there. The Cowgirls weren't able to reel in the Zias and they earned their third loss of the season.
Leading the Cowgirls' in scoring was
Briana Gholston with 18 points, she also added in three rebounds as she was 3-3 from three point land and 5-6 from the charity stripe.
Domonique Rivera notched 13 points for the Cowgirls as
Whitley Coca added in 12 points with six rebounds, five of which were defensive.
Trish Simpson led the Cowgirls in rebounding with eight rebounds in the game.
The Cowgirls are now 2-3 on the season as they look for revenge on the Zias on the Cowgirls' home court. The two teams will meet up again on 11/29 at 6pm in the John A. Wilson Complex.
