Cowgirls Fall Short at RMAC Tourney; Await Regional Selections

The Cowgirl Soccer team took to the road for the Semifinals of the RMAC Tournament on 11/5. Sadly, the Cowgirls run at an RMAC title is over as the Rangers benched the Cowgirls 2-0. The Cowgirls still have a chance at the NCAA Regional Tournament and will wait to hear if they are selected.

The Rangers started off early with their first goal in the third minute of play. The goal came on a low shot from the left side to the far post.

The Cowgirls held their own against the Rangers but in the 54th minute of play, the Rangers scored again to make the score 2-0. The shot was from point blank range off the cross.

The Rangers outshot the Cowgirls 22-7 on the game.

Amanda Rose Johnson was in the net for the Cowgirls and grabbed eight saves on the day with two goals allowed.

Head Coach Justin Wagar said, “We just came out flat. We gave up the early goal and were stuck chasing the rest of the game, we can't fall behind that early. It dropped us into a shell and weren't able to get it going. Much credit to Regis, they played a great game, they're one of the hottest teams in the country right now. Right now it's just a waiting game, in hopes that we did enough with 12 wins to get into the Regional tournament.”

The Cowgirls were ranked sixth in the region as of 11/3. The top six teams in the Region will be invited to the NCAA Regional Tournament as selected by the regional committees. The NCAA Selection Show will be aired online Monday 11/8 at 7 pm ET. Click HERE to access the NCAA Selection Show.
