The NMHU Cowgirls fell to the Mountaineers of Western State College by a final score of 81-72 on 12/10 in Gunnison, Colo. The Cowgirls and the Mountaineers would fight tooth and nail throughout the competition as the lead would change hands many times over the games duration. In the end, the Mountaineers would take advantage of some clutch last minute shots to come out on top. With the loss, the Cowgirls drop to 3-6 on the season and 0-3 in RMAC play.
Leading the Cowgirls in points was
Briana Gholston with 14. Gholston would add eight rebounds, three assists, and one steal to her night's totals in 26 minutes of playing time.
Marissa Magalei and
Ashley Godfrey would be the only other Cowgirls to end the night in double figures as each finished with 10 points on the night. Magalei would add in three rebounds, two assists and two steals for her final marks. Godfrey would add two rebounds and one blocked shot to her nights totals.
The Cowgirls will have a quick turnaround after their loss to Western State as they travel to Grand Junction, Colo. to take on the Mavericks of Mesa State College on 12/11.
