The NMHU Cowgirls lost an overtime nail biter to the Mavericks of Mesa State College on 12/11 by a final score of 77-73. The Cowgirls would stage a late comeback in the final minutes of regulation to force the game into overtime, but would eventually succumb to the Mavericks in the final minutes of OT. With the loss, the Cowgirls are now 3-7 overall and 0-4 in RMAC play.
Leading the Cowgirls for the night was
Whitley Coca with a double-double as she scored a career high 30 points and pulled down a season high 11 rebounds. Coca would add two steals to her night to great play. Other Cowgirls in double figures include:
Alyssa Lopez and
Ashley Godfrey. Lopez would finish the night with 12 points, one rebound, one assist and one steal. Godfrey would add in 10 points, one assist, one blocked shot and two steals for the Cowgirls.
The Cowgirl will hit the hardwood again on 12/17 as they play host to the Mountain Lions from the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs in Las Vegas, N.M. Tip-off is set for 6:00 pm.
