The Cowgirl Basketball team played host to the Rangers of Regis University on 12/4 in beautiful Las Vegas, NM. The Rangers beat the Cowgirls with a final score of 77-68 but the Cowgirls put up a fight.
The Rangers took a 17 point lead with five minutes left in the first half. The Cowgirls began to close that lead after the half, coming as close as 3 points.
The Cowgirls had three in double digits with
Briana Gholston pulling in a double double on the night. She scored 18 points and brought down 10 rebounds, eight of which were defensive.
Whitley Coca followed close behind with 17 points on the night with three rebounds. Rounding out the Cowgirls' double figure scoring was
Marissa Magalei with 12 points on the night as well as three rebounds.
The Cowgirls shot a 73.3% from the three point line as the Rangers were at a 75.0%.
The Cowgirls are now 3-5 on the season and 0-2 in RMAC play. They will take their show on the road next weekend as they take on the Western State College Mountaineers on 12/ 10 followed by the Mesa State Mavericks on 12/11.
