The Cowgirl Basketball team travelled to Silver City, NM to take on in state rival Western New Mexico University. The Cowgirls lost to the Mustangs 69-62 in their hard fought battle. The Cowgirls are now 10-14 overall and 5-12 in RMAC play.
The Cowgirls and Mustangs traded the lead for much of the game until the Mustangs took off with just over a minute left. There were 11 different points in the game win which the score was tied.
Leading the Cowgirls in scoring was
Jessica Armijo with 13 points. She grabbed four rebounds and had five steals on the night, the most for any player in the game.
Ashley Logan was right behind Armijo with 12 points for the Cowgirls. Logan also added five rebounds for the Cowgirls.
Leading the Cowgirls' defense was
Whitney Polosky with eight rebounds and she added in eight points on the night. Close behind her was
Amanda Beauchamp with six rebounds.
The Cowgirls will now travel to Gunnison, Colorado as they take on the Mountaineers of Western State College on 2/27.
