The NMHU Cowgirls ran past the Orediggers of the Colorado School of Mines on 1/2 by a final score of 54-51 in Golden, Colo. The Cowgirls and the Orediggers would battle throughout the entire game, but it would all come down to some clutch free throws by
Briana Gholston in the final minutes that would seal the win for the Cowgirls. With the win, the Cowgirls improve to 5-8 on the season and 2-5 in RMAC play.
Briana Gholston would lead the way for the Cowgirls as she finished the night with 13 points, four rebounds, two assists and five steals.
Domonique Rivera and
China Smith would both have break out games for the Cowgirls in the win. Rivera would finish the night with 12 points, six rebounds and three steals. Smith would finish the night just one rebound short of a double-double and she scored 10 points, pulled down nine rebounds, two assists, one blocked shot and one steal.
The Cowgirls will look to make it two in a row on 1/3 when they take the court again against the Cougars of Colorado Christian University in Lakewood, Colo. Tip-off is set for 6:00 pm.
