The NMHU Cowgirls fell to the Cougars of Colorado Christian University on 1/3 by a final score of 89-76 in Lakewood, Colo. The Cowgirls would battle early with the Cougars, but would eventually succumb to the CCU attack. With the loss, the Cowgirls fall to 5-9 on the season and 2-6 in RMAC play.
The Cowgirls would struggle from the free throw line throughout the game as they would finish the night with a 56% free throw percentage for the game as opposed to CCU's 78%. The CCU defense would cause fits for the Cowgirls as the Cougars would force 20 Cowgirl turnovers in the game. The Cowgirls would have plenty of success from beyond the arc as they would sink eight of 16 three point attempts in the game.
Leading the Cowgirls in scoring for the second straight night was
Briana Gholston with 19 points. Gholston would add in eight rebounds, four assists and three blocked shots to her night's totals. Coming in second in scoring for the Cowgirls was
Whitley Coca with 18 points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal.
Domonique Rivera would round out the top three scorers for the Cowgirls with 12 points, three rebounds and one steal.
