The Cowgirl Soccer team fell to #11 Metro State College 1-0 on 9/18. The Cowgirls would play the nationally ranked powerhouse tough throughout the game, but the Roadrunner defense would prove to be too much for the young NMHU squad. The Cowgirls were held to just 10 shots on the day, five off their 15 shots per game average. Only two of the Cowgirls shots were on goal for the match. With the loss, the Cowgirls are now 2-3 overall and 1-1 in RMAC play.
The Roadrunners would score early on in the contest as Carly Nelson would hit her first goal of the season at the 10:33 mark. Nelson sailed a shot right under the crossbar out of NMHU goal keeper
Shannon Delarosbil's reach to make it 1-0 Metro State. The rest of the game would be a defensive struggle as neither team would score again, leading to a Metro State victory.
Julissa Rodriguez would lead the Cowgirls in shots on the day with six, two of them on frame.
Kahyra Ramirez would come off the bench to record two shots for the match.
Shannon Delarosbil and
Bianca Contreres would share time in the net for the match. Delarosbil would record one save and give up one goal. Contreres would record two saves for the match. As a team, the Cowgirls would have three corner kicks on the day.
The Cowgirls will have to have a short memory as they hit the pitch again on 9/21 when they host RMAC rival Adams State College at 7:00 p.m. at Perkins Stadium in Las Vegas, N.M.
