Abdul Kanneh to Compete in 2013 NFLPA Senior Collegiate Bowl

#2 Abdul Kanneh
The Cowboys' star cornerback Abdul Kanneh recently committed to playing in the 2013 NFL Players Association Collegiate Bowl Game on January 19, 2013.  The London, England native will be one of the talented collegiate football seniors with the opportunity to showcase his skills for the upcoming NFL draft.   The game is scheduled to be played on the campus of California State University – Dominguez Hills in Carson, Calif.

Abdul has been an important part NMHU Head Football Coach Eric Young's defense for the past two seasons.  He has amassed an impressive stat-line during that time.  Kanneh's big play ability was the key to his success as a Cowboy.  His 90 yard interception return for a touchdown against Southern Utah University this season was perhaps the highlight play of his season.  During the play, Kanneh picked off a SUU pass on the left side of the 10 yard line and crisscrossed the field, completely baffling the NCAA Division I Thunderhawks on his way to six points.

In his two years, he had nine interceptions for 358 return yards and four touchdowns.  Kanneh excelled in the Cowboys' special teams as well with 21 kick returns for 425 yards and one touchdown and 13 punt returns for 215 yards.  Abdul was an all-around defensive player for the Cowboys with 107 tackles (76 solo and 31 assists), 32 pass breakups, and one sack.

Abdul's football talent has not gone unnoticed this season.  He has been selected to multiple All-Star teams for his on the field performance in 2012.  Among the awards were selections to the 2012 All-RMAC First Team defense, the 2012 NCAA Division II Daktronics All-Super Region Four First Team defense, the 2012 NCAA Division II BSN All-American First Team defense, and the 2012 NCAA Division II Daktronics All-American First Team defense.

Now Kanneh will have a chance to make his claim as a draft prospect for the 32 NFL teams at the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl on January 19, 2013.  He will participate in a variety of activities sponsored by the NFL in the week long build up to the game.  During this time, Abdul will get a chance to work with Pro-football players and coaching legends, such as Terrell Davis, Hank Baskett III and Dick Vermeil.  The two NFLPA Collegiate Bowl teams will be coached by Herm Edwards and Dick Vermeil.

Abdul is a major indication of the newly revived Cowboy Football Program during the tenure of Head Coach Eric Young.  The Cowboys finished the 2012 season with an 8-3 overall record and 7-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, their best season since 1998.  Stay tuned to the NMHU Athletic website for further developments in Cowboy Football.
