Cowboys Topple #18 Colorado School of Mines

Box Score After an impressive offensive showing, the NMHU Cowboys defeated the nationally ranked #18 OreDiggers of the Colorado School of Mines on 9/22 in front of a raucous home crowd by a final score of 42-37. Both squads put up outstanding offensive numbers as they combined for 1202 yards of total offense for the game. With the win, the Pokes improve to 3-1 on the season and 2-0 in RMAC play.

Offensively, the Cowboys finished the day with 570 total offensive yards (136 yards rushing and 434 yards passing). Emmanuel Lewis led the way for the Cowboys offensively finishing the day completing 25 of 45 passes for 434 yards and four touchdowns to defeat the nationally ranked OreDiggers. Vincent Venegas led the Pokes in rushing with 84 yards on eight carries and one touchdown. Venegas lone score came on the first play from scrimmage as he scampered 76 yards for the first score of the game to put the Cowboys up 7-0.

Defensively, DiAmaal Holmes led the Pokes with 18 tackles, one tackle for a loss of six yards and two pass break-ups. Jared Koster finished second in tackles with nine for the game. Koster added two tackles for a loss of two yards to his day's totals. EJ Woods rounds out the top three with eight tackles, two tackles for a loss of 14 yards, one pass break-up and one sack for a loss of ten yards.

The Pokes will hit the road to take on their next opponent as they travel to Grand Junction, Colo. to take on the Mavericks of Colorado Mesa University on 9/29 at 1:00 p.m.
