Cowgirls Beat Thunderwolves 2-1

Box Score Pubelo,Colo. -  The NMHU Soccer Team won their fourth Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game on Oct.18, against the Thunderwolves of Colorado State University of Pueblo, by the final score of 2-1. From the start of the game, the Cowgirls dominated the ball possession and shots by period. The Thunderwolves would respond by scoring the first goal of the game in the 11th minute. The Cowgirls were determined to contiune their offensive attack against the Thunderwolves' defense. The Cowgirls took five shots and one corner kick before tieing the game in the 28th minute.  Andrea Duke scored the goal and she received a pass from Crystal Schuder and it was Andrea Duke's fifth goal of the season. In the second period, the Cowgirls had their advantage in the shots by period against the Thunderwolves. Late in the second period, the Cowgirls would secure the game with a goal in the 87th minute from Andrea Duke. The Cowgirls, lead by Justin Wagar, improve 4-4-1 in the RMAC and 6-4-3 in overall play.

NMHU 2 - CSUP 1

In the first period, the Cowgirls were controlling the ball possesion and the shots by period. The Thunderwolves would go on the scoreboard first, taking the lead 1-0.  The Cowgirls would respond in the 28th minute by Andrea Duke scoring a tieing goal from a pass from Crystal Schuder and Kahiesha Johnson. The Cowgirls dominated the Thunderwolves by outshooting them 12-2 and with ball possesion. The Cowgirls' defense was equally as impressive.

In the second period, the Cowgirls continued were they left off by having an advantage in the shots by period 11-6 and with controlling the ball possession for most of the period. The Thunderwolves would have one yellow card  and two red cards that would ultimately  cost them. The Cowgirls would take full advantage with first having a player advantage. Deeper in the period, the Cowgirls were still controlling the pace of the game. The second red card occured in 86th minute, and the Cowgirls would capitalize on the tremendous opportuinty to take the lead. Three minutes later, the Cowiglrs responded by taking the game winning goal from Crstyal Schuder passing the ball to Andrea Duke. This late goal would secure the victory for the Cowgirls

Andrea Duke was the star for the Cowgirls. She ended the game with two goals. Right behind her stellar performance was Crystal Schuder. She ended the night with two assist. Nikita Rivera ended the night with three saves. She improves to 4-1-2

The Cowgirls will continue conference action on the road in Alamosa, Colo., on Oct. 20, against the Adams State University Grizzlies.  The Cowgirls and Grizzlies last met at Perkins Stadium and fought to a 3-3 draw in double overtime, on Oct. 11.
