Soccer Falls to #9 Colorado Mines, 1-0, in Semis of RMAC Tournament

GOLDEN, Colo. - A first period goal proved to be the only difference in 200 minutes of action between the Cowgirls and Orediggers this season as New Mexico Highlands (11-5-4) fell to #9 Colorado School of the Mines (15-1-3) 1-0 Friday Afternoon (Nov. 7) in Golden, Colorado.

In the 35th minute, the Orediggers were awarded a free kick that was essentially a corner on the left side. Emily Garnier found Rachel Turner right in front of the goal right post for her second goal of the season.

The Cowgirls could only managed one shot on goal apiece from freshmen Mallory Bostic and Malia Maack.

Highlands' freshman goalie Sarah Beecher grabbed seven saves in the game and fell to 11-5-4 on the season. Jayln Yates grabbed a pair of saves to improve to 15-1-3 in goal on the year for the Orediggers.

The New Mexico Highlands soccer team will find out whether it makes the NCAA Tournament Monday (Nov. 10) at 5 p.m. Check out the NMHUcowboys.com and @NMHUCowboys on twitter for the latest information.
