GUNNISON, COLO. - The Highlands football team heads north this weekend where they will face Western State.
The Cowboys look to bounce back after a loss against Colorado Mesa at home on Oct. 10. Highlands had a strong rushing game against the Mavericks. They ran 164 yards on the ground with
Davonte Lynch leading the attack with 120 rushing yards. The Cowboys will have to minimize their mistakes this weekend to put themselves in a good position to win.
Cowboys are averaging 11.83 points per game, 112 rushing yards per game, and 184 passing yards per game.
A key for the Cowboys will be to stop the Mountaineers offense. The Mountaineers are top on the conference rankings in passing and rushing yards. On the other hand, their defense allows a lot of passing yards and rushing yards.
The Mountaineers are 1-5 overall, and 1-3 RMAC. Most of their losses have been close and their only win came last week.
The Cowboys will look to play efficient football and earn their first win of the season.
Game time is Saturday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. at Western State.
