late drive leads grizzlies over cowboys

Box Score LAS VEGAS, N.M.- The Cowboys fell short against Adams State after an exciting ending. With 3 minutes left on the clock, Adams St., down 13-10, converted two 4th down conversions resulting in a touchdown pass from 6 yards out with just 42 seconds remaining.
 
The Cowboys came out ready to play in the first half as they had their first lead at home,13-10. The Grizzlies would score a touchdown in the first quarter on a 26-yard rush.
 
In the second quarter, the Cowboys dominated as they scored three times. Kicker, Luke Jones, would hit two field goals from 23 and 45 yards to put the Cowboys on the board and the lead. Their other score came from a 67-yard drive that resulted in a 2-yard touchdown from Trevor Swenson to Will Hanford. The Cowboys would then head into the locker room with a 13-10 lead.
 
In the third quarter, the Cowboys dominated by rushing the ball and controlling possession throughout the quarter. As a result, the Cowboys would keep the lead going into the fourth quarter.

Cowboys would take their dominance into the fourth quarter. With 10:17 on the clock, the Cowboys would gain yardage while consuming time. The drive would last roughly seven minutes and the Cowboys would rush to get first down after first down. A crucial play happened when the Cowboys fumbled and lost the ball on third down to give the Grizzlies one last chance to score.
 
The Cowboys held the Grizzlies to two fourth down attempts and in both attempts the Grizzlies made great plays to keep their drive going. After a crucial fourth down conversion, the Grizzlies would attempt a trick play. They would make a double-reverse pass that would give the quarterback Johnny Feauto the ball, whom would then complete a 30-yard pass to Addie Brown. The Grizzlies would then take their chance and succeed as they passed for a touchdown to give them the lead.
 
The Cowboys would then have a chance of their own with 00:23 seconds left. They would fall as they would go 4 and out to give the Grizzlies the win.
 
The Cowboys go back on the road next weekend as they face Chadron State. Live stats and video will be available.
