Box Score LAS VEGAS, N.M.- The #19 ranked team in the country Colorado State University Publeo stopped by Las Vegas, N.M. tonight, December 12, to take on the Cowgirls. The ThunderWolves took advantage of the Cowgirls 24 turnovers to remain undefeated, 79-55.
In the first quarter the Cowgirls looked liked they had changed their starting habits as they went on a 5-0 run to start that game. Those five points came on a
Michelle Traynham from beyond the arc and nice finish in the paint by
Kaylani Maiava. The ThunderWolves would then go on a 6-0 run over the next minute to give them the 6-5 lead. The ThunderWolves would go on a 12-4 run over the last four and a half minutes to lead the Cowgirls 18-9 after the first quarter.
The second quarter saw the Cowgirls score three of the first five points in the opening minute and 12 seconds when the cut the ThunderWolves lead down to eight, 20-12. The ThunderWolves would continue to full court press, even trapping at times to speed up the tempo of the game and make the Cowgirls make mistakes. The ThunderWolves forced 19 turnovers in the first half as they went into the locker room leading the Cowgirls 37-22.
The third quarter would be the best scoring wise for the Cowgirls as they scored 19 points. The Cowgirls keep the scoring close as the ThunderWolves only outscore the Cowgirls by two in the quarter. The ThunderWolves lead 58-41 after three.
The Cowgirls would continue to try and fight back against the #19 team in the country but they would fall the to the ThunderWolves of Colorado State University Pueblo 79-55.
