Cowgirls travel to the Mt. Rushmore's State

RAPID CiTY and SPEARFISH, S.D.-  Your New Mexico Highlands women's basketball team takes a road trip to South Dakota to play against Black Hills State University (Dec. 18) at 5:30 pm in Spearfish, SD and on Saturday (Dec. 19) at 3:30 pm in Rapid, SD.

The Cowgirld are overall 2-5, and 0-3 in the RMAC.

Your Cowgirls are looking for their first conference win of the season and to snap this losing streak. Leading Highlands is senior Michelle Traynham who averages 14.3 points a game, shooting 35.5% from the field, 36.4% from the arc, and 66.7% from the free throw line. Following Traynham is junior Giulia Simioni who averages 11.8 points a game, shooitng 34% from the field, 42.1% from the arc, and 41.7% from the free throw line. Sophomore Michelle Tapia leads your Cowgirls in rebounds with 7.3 per game and Simioni leads with 3.5 assists per game.

Black Hills State overall record is 6-1, RMAC 3-0

The Yellow Jackets are led by senior Bailey Kusser, who averages 10.4 points a game and is shooting 38.4 % from the field, 45.2% from behind the arc and 75% from the free throw line. Senior Christine Thorn averages 10 points a game, shooting 44.4% from the field, 33.3% from the arc, and 92.9% from the free throw line. Junior Taylor Trohkimoinen is the Yellow Jackets leading rebounder with 5.9 per game and leading assist with 3.9 per game.

South Dakota School of Mines overall record is 4-3, RMAC 1-2

The Hardrockers are in their first year in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and led by Kahile Peterson who is averaging 13.1 points a game, shooting 43.5% from the field, 30.8% from the arc and 75.7% from the free throw line. Also helping South Dakota is Megan Rohrer who averages 12.7 points, shooting 39.1% from the field, 45.5% from the arc, and 65.8% from the free throw line. Leading rebounder for the Hardrockers is Devyn Asche with 8.1 per game and leading them in assist is Petersons with 2.5 per game.
