LAKEWOOD, Colo. – The Cowgirls were held to only 18 points in the first half and the Cougars scored the first 12 points of the game as New Mexico Highlands (6-19, 5-16 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) fell to Colorado Christian (14-13, 14-7 RMAC) 68-44 Saturday night (Feb. 21) in Lakewood, Colorado.

Jenny Johson drained threes to cut the deficit to 12-6 with 13:13 remaining in the first half. Colorado Christian responded with a 7-0 run and led the rest of the way by double-digits.

Claudia Meneses came off the bench with 11 points. Junior
Brittany Brown added seven points and seven rebounds.
The home team scored the first 12 points of the game and never looked back. After Colorado Christian was stopped on its first possession, Kaitlyn Hinch got the steal and the fastbreak layup. Caitlin Roussopulos hit a pair from the line and Kayla Faklemen made a jumper. Clair Paxton made a layup, Kate Louthan made a jumper and Faklemen punctuated the spurt becoming the first Cougar with more than one basket for the game.
Four players reached double-digit scoring for the Cougars with Louthan coming off the bench with 16. Hinch scored 13. Colorado Christian turned 23 Cowgirl turnovers into 23 points.
Both teams scored 26 points in the second half.
Highlands concludes the 2014-2015 season next Saturday (Feb. 21) at Western New Mexico. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
