Cowgirls Can Not Hold Thunderwolves

Pueblo, CO - The New Mexico Highlands Women's Soccer team fell to travel partner Colorado State University- Pueblo Thunderwolves (2-1).  The Cowgirls fall to 2-9-1 overall and 2-6 in RMAC

1st half:

The Thunderwolves right away got a corner kick and a shot on goal but Freshman Goalkeeper Makenna Luster came out with the save.  Then Cowgirl's Senior Samantha Mendez found her teammate  Senior Anyssa Dagnino to get the first goal of the game, putting the Cowgirls up 1-0 .  The Cowgirls Freshman Madison Cataldo tried to make a second goal, but Thunderwolves goalkeeper  Rylie Martin made a stand and got the save.  The Cowgirls continued to attack the Thunerwolves when Junior Haley Velez  got a chance,  but it was too wide right.  The Thunderwolves found their way past the Cowgirls defense, and  Laikyn Koss put the ball in the back of the net as she tied the game 1-1

2nd half:

The Thunderwolves immediately came out  ready to take the lead, but the Cowgirls defense blocked the shot. Then the Cowgirls Senior Danielle Acuna got her chance at the goal, but kicked it wide. With only 13 minutes left the Thunderwolves Sandra Grimald got herself the victory goal to put them in the lead 2-1. With only a minute left, Cowgirls Abigail Chavez got her shot on goal, but Alison Darr came up with the save for the Thunderwolves.

Final Score 2-1

 

The Cowgirls continue RMAC play at home next weekend (Oct. 21) against Westminster College at 7 p.m.  Video and Live Stats will be available online.
