LAS VEGAS, N.M.- The Cowgirl basketball team return home this this Friday and Saturday after being on the road for the last four games. The Cowgirls will welcome the Griffins of Westminster on Friday and the Mavericks of Colorado Mesa on Saturday, both at 5:00 p.m.
The Griffins are currently sitting at 7-12, 4-11 in RAMC play. In their last eight games they are 2-8 with wins over Western State Colorado in overtime and Adams St. The Griffins struggle on the road, going just 1-7 this season. This will be the first time that the Cowgirls and Griffins have ever met
Colorado Mesa is coming in this weekend with a 12-7, 9-6 record. In their last eight games they have a 5-3, with their three loses coming against UC-Colorado Springs, Regis, and Pueblo. The Mavericks are led in scoring by Bryanna Adams who is number two in the conference with 17.6 points per game.
The Cowgirls are coming into the weekend with a 3-16 overall record and a 1-14 RMAC record. In their last four games the Cowgirls are 1-3 with their win coming over Adams St 51-49 on January 22. Last weekend the Cowgirls' Kristy Maquez had a career high 20 points in the 81-75 loss to UC-Colorado Springs.
Michelle Traynham led the team with 17.0 points per game, while Marquez led the team in rebounds with 9.0 per game.
