DURANGO, Colo. --- The New Mexico Highlands women's soccer team lost to Fort Lewis 2-1 Saturday afternoon at FLC Dirks Field.

It was the season finale for NMHU as the Cowgirls finished the season 2-13-1 overall and 2-10-1 in RMAC play.

NMHU fell behind 2-0 in the first half as the Skyhawks (6-9-2, 5-7-1) scored on a Renee Terrell goal in the ninth minute and an Emma Patron goal in the 32
nd minute on a penalty kick.

The Cowgirls kept fighting, however, as senior
Anna Medina scored on a shot from 25 yards out that was assisted by
Alyssa Palmer in the 84
th minute to cut the Fort Lewis lead to 2-1. But the Cowgirls weren't able to find the equalizer as they dropped their season finale.

The Cowgirls outshot the Skyhawks 19-15, including 8-6 on shots on goal.
Breanna Fatten and
Larissa Romero led the team with five shots apiece while
Alondra Gildo-Ceballos took four.
