LAS VEGAS, N.M. ---Â The New Mexico Highlands women's basketball team looks to make it two wins in a row over University of the Southwest as the Cowgirls host the Mustangs in their home opener 2 p.m. Saturday at Wilson Complex.
THE COWGIRLS COMING INTO THIS WEEK | SEASON STATS
The Cowgirls are coming off a win Monday over USW 66-49 - a game NMHU led for much of the contest.
Jordyn Lewis led the way for the Cowgirls with 21 points, including going 5-for-11 from 3-point range.
DeAvion Allen added 14 points and seven rebounds.
On the season, Lewis leads the team at 9.3 points per game to go along with a team-best seven 3-pointers while Allen is averaging 8.7 points and a team-best 7.3 rebounds. As a team, the Cowgirls are averaging 46 points while allowing 55 points per game and NMHU is shooting 34.4 percent from the field.

The Mustangs have dropped two in a row (not including an exhibition loss in between), including a loss at home to Wayland Baptist. USW's two wins have come against Northern New Mexico and Central Christian College.
Aaliyah Wheatfall leads the team in scoring at 12.1 points per game while Julia Norder is second on the team at 10.7 points per contest. As a team, the Mustangs are averaging 54.6 points per game while allowing 68 per contest.
