Cowgirls open RMAC play Saturday against CSU-Pueblo

LAS VEGAS, N.M. --- The New Mexico Highlands women's basketball team opens Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play as the Cowgirls host CSU-Pueblo 5 p.m. Saturday at Wilson Complex.

THE COWGIRLS COMING INTO THIS WEEK | SEASON STATS
The Cowgirls have dropped three in a row since winning two in a row, including dropping both games at the Pak-A-Sak Thanksgiving Classic this past weekend in Canyon, Texas. NMHU fell to host and seventh-ranked West Texas A&M 100-59 on Friday and Eastern New Mexico 89-54 on Saturday - the second time this season the Cowgirls have lost to the Greyhounds.

On the season, the Cowgirls are 14th in the RMAC in scoring (54.6) and are 10th in scoring defense (67.6). NMHU is in the top half of the conference in 3-point percentage (32.3 percent - eighth) and steals (8.4 per game - fifth).

Jordyn Lewis is pacing the Cowgirls in scoring this season as she's 10th in the conference at 14.9 points per contest (including 19.4 points per game in her last five contests) and she leads the conference with 18 3-pointers made (she's fourth in the RMAC at 2.6 3-pointers made per game. She's also shooting 85.7 percent from the charity stripe this season. Allyah George is second on the team in scoring at 8.1 points per game while also adding 6.0 rebounds per game. DeAvion Allen leads the team in rebounds (7.1) and assists (2.3) to go along with 6.9 points per contest.

ABOUT CSU-PUEBLO | SEASON STATS
The ThunderWolves were also in Canyon this last weekend for the Pak-A-Sak Thanksgiving Classic and dropped both games as well, losing to Eastern New Mexico 58-54 and West Texas A&M 91-70. CSU-Pueblo's two wins this season came against Texas A&M-Commerce on Nov. 9 (77-68) and Montana Western on Nov. 17 (68-64).

The ThunderWolves are seventh in the RMAC in scoring at 70.6 points per game while they are last in the conference in points allowed per game at 75.0. CSU-Pueblo is third in the conference in blocks per game (3.2)

Five-foot-9 guard Jennah Knafelc leads the team in scoring at 12.5 points per game and has hit a team-best 15 3-pointers (shooting 38.6 percent) while 5-foot-7 guard JaNaiya Davis (12.3), Khiya Adams (11.3) and 6-foot-2 forward Sydni Williams (11.3) are also averaging double figures for the ThunderWolves. Adams leads the team in rebounding (7.7) while Davis and Knafelc leads the team in assists (21).

LAST SEASON VERSUS THE THUNDERWOLVES
The Cowgirls dropped both games to CSU-Pueblo last season, falling on the road 78-53 and at home 73-47.
