LAS VEGAS, N.M. --- The New Mexico Highlands women's basketball team dropped its RMAC opener to CSU-Pueblo 76-48 Saturday evening at Wilson Complex.

The Cowgirls (2-6 overall, 0-1 RMAC) struggled to get things going offensively in the first quarter, going 1-for-14 from the field in the period, to fall behind 16-5 after one. NMHU shot 15-for-41 the rest of the way, but couldn't slow down CSU-Pueblo (3-4, 1-0) and fell to the ThunderWolves.

Jordyn Lewis led the Cowgirls with 17 points, going 5-for-11 from 3-point range, to go along with five rebounds.
Allyah George had 10 points while
DeAvion Allen led the team with eight rebounds while
Amari Terry had a team-best four assists and three steals to go along with six points.

Turnovers hurt the Cowgirls as they committed 18 – leading to 24 points off turnovers for the ThunderWolves.

JaNaiya Davis led four CSU-Pueblo players in double figures with 14 points to go along with five assists, five steals and four rebounds.

NMHU returns to action 5 p.m. Friday at home when the Cowgirls host Fort Lewis at Wilson Complex.
