Rapid City, SD --- The New Mexico Highlands football team will travel to South Dakota to take on South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (SDSMT) at 1 pm on Saturday afternoon, in a game that has been nicknamed the "RMAC Southwest Shootout".
The Cowboys are looking to keep the momentum rolling as they won their first game of the season last weekend against Black Hills State. The Cowboys better be ready for a battle as the Hardrockers have yet to win a game on their home field this season.
ABOUT SDSMT: The Hardrockers are (1-6, 0-6 RMAC) lost in a high scoring affair to Adams State last week 37-32. Leading the way for the Hardrocker offense was Ahmad Lewis who ran for a season high 217 yards on 33 carries and also scored two touchdowns in the game. Thomas Creese will also look to lead the Hardrocker offense at the quarterback position as he threw for 245 yards and a touchdown against the Grizzlies.
ABOUT THE COWBOYS: The Cowboys (1-5, 1-5 RMAC) won their first game of the season as they were able to hold off Black Hills State 17-13 at the Sanchez Family Stadium. The Cowboys racked in 288 total yards on the ground and also threw for 116.
James Budgett posted a season high 141 rushing yards and also scored a touchdown against the Yellow Jackets.
Ramone Atkins threw for 116 yards and also threw a touchdown.
