Football takes on Colorado Mesa for final regular season game

Las Vegas, NM --- The New Mexico Highlands football team will travel to Grand Junction, CO to take on Colorado Mesa at 1 pm at Stocker Stadium.
 
ABOUT THE MAVERICKS: The Mavericks are coming off a 35-13 road win over Adams State where the Mavericks recorded over 450 yards of total offense and ran for four touchdowns. This season, the Mavericks are averaging 367 yards per game and have recorded a total of 43 touchdowns. On the ground, Isaac Maestas leads the way with 687 rushing yards which includes six touchdowns. Jesse Rodriguez has posted 470 yards for three touchdowns. The Mavericks have split time at the quarterback position where Hayden Bollinger has completed 60 of 142 passes for 954 yards and 6 touchdowns. Aaron Howard has completed 81 of 153 passes for 918 yards and 11 touchdowns. Wide-out Peter Anderson leads the team in receptions and yards with 41 receptions for 728 yards and has also caught a team high six touchdowns.
 
ABOUT THE COWBOYS: The Cowboys come in to the game after defeating Western Colorado 24-22 last weekend in Gunnison, CO and are averaging 225 yards per game. James Budgett leads the way on the ground as he has rushed for 562 yards and three touchdowns on the season. Kam Mosby has also recorded 93 yards and a touchdown for the Cowboys. Emmanuel Lumanze Jr. has recorded 8 receptions for 202 yards and a touchdown. The Cowboys also split time at the quarterback position as Gunner Mefferd and Ramone Atkins have both started this year. Atkins has competed 35 of his 106 attempts for 433 yards and two touchdowns. Mefferd has connected on 24 of his 74 atempts for 394 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Malik Brown leads the way with 58 total tackles, 5 interceptions (2 of which he ran back for touchdowns) and 3 pass break-ups. Trejen Lawrence has recorded 49 tackles and Eli Schoettmer has tallied 40 tackles and forced two fumbles.
