Las Vegas, NM --- The New Mexico Highlands women's basketball team look to start their season on the right note as they travel to Durango, CO to officially start their season as they compete in the Lonestar/RMAC Conference Challenge against Eastern NM at 10 am on Friday and Western NM at 10 am on Saturday.

ABOUT EASTERN NM: Last season, the Greyhounds finished the year with a 19-11 overall record which includes a 14-6 record in Lonestar conference play. Alivia Lewis returns from last year's team as she averaged 8.9 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game. The second highest scoring leader was Zamorye Cox who looks to improve off 9.6 points per game and 3.6 assists per game as a freshman.

ABOUT WESTERN NM: The Mustangs finished the season with a 10-17 overall record which included 6-4 in Lonestar Conference play. Nine players return from last year's team and are bringing in six new student-athletes. Leading the way offensively is Paulina Rodriguez as she appeared in 6 games last season and averages 11.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1 assist per game.

ABOUT THE COWGIRLS: The Cowgirls are coming off a 71-63 win over Northern New Mexico in an exhibition contest earlier this week. Â
Maiah Rivas played tough in her collegiate debut as she knocked down 4-three pointer to give her 17 points and 3 assists for the Cowgirls, on top of, senior captain
Jordyn Lewis who posted 14 points, 4 rebounds, and an assist. Down low, freshman
Harlie Roach dominated the glass as she recorded 11 rebounds and 4 points.
