LAS VEGAS, N.M. --- The New Mexico Highlands women's basketball team lost to Black Hills State 85-52 on Saturday at Wilson Complex.

The Cowgirls (4-20 overall, 2-15 RMAC) kept up with Black Hills State (13-8, 9-8) in the first quarter, leading 19-14 after a
Jordyn Lewis 3-pointer with 2:15 remaining in the quarter. But the Yellow Jackets went on an 11-0 run to end the quarter to take a 25-19 lead heading into the second. The run eventually grew to 16-0 as BHSU eventually took a 42-29 lead into the half and NMHU wouldn't get within single digits the rest of the way.

Lewis and
Allyah George led the Cowgirls with 14 points apiece while
DeAvion Allen had 12 points and a team-best six rebounds.
Kish Chandler had a Cowgirl-high four assists. NMHU shot 35.8 percent from the field, including going 5-for-18 from 3-point range, while BHSU shot 51.5 percent – including going 13-for-28 from 3-point range. BHSU also took advantage of 18 offensive rebounds – scoring 27 second-chance points.
