PUEBLO, Colo. --- The New Mexico Highlands women's basketball team dropped their season finale on the road to CSU-Pueblo 81-54 Friday night at Massari Arena.
Â
The Cowgirls fell behind 16-11 after the first quarter before a quick 7-0 run by the ThunderWolves (16-12, 14-8) to start the second made it a double-digit lead and NMHU wouldn't get within single digits the rest of the contest.
Â
Two Cowgirls reached double figures as
Jordyn Lewis had 20 points – going 4-for-8 from 3-point range and adding two assists – while
Allyah George in her final game for NMHU went for 19 points – going 8-for-9 from the field while adding three rebounds. NMHU's other senior
Amari Terry capped her Cowgirl career with a trio of 3-pointers for nine points to go with a team-best seven rebounds.
Â
The Cowgirls shot 41.2 percent (7-for-17) from 3-point range, but 21 turnovers hurt NMHU as did allowing 13 offensive rebounds that led to 14 second-chance points for CSU-Pueblo (NMHU had four offensive rebounds but didn't have a second-chance point).
Â
The Cowgirls finish the season 4-24 overall and 3-19 in RMAC play.
