Las Vegas, NM --- The New Mexico Highlands women's basketball team travels to Colorado to take on Colorado Mesa on Friday night and Western Colorado on Saturday night.


ABOUT COLORADO MESA: The Mavericks sit in first place in the RMAC standings as they are 7-0 in conference play. The Mavericks run a relatively slow-paced offense as they average 64.5 points per game, however, their defense is averaging a league-lowest 47.5 points per game. Coming in to the weekend, Mesa is shooting 40.9% from the field, which includes 28.8% from three, and also averages 39.5 rebounds and 14.5 assists per game.
 
Daniella Turner, off the bench, leads the way with 16.4 points per game while also grabbing 2.7 rebounds per game. Kelsey Siemons (11.5 points, 4.5 rebounds), Kylyn Rigsby (8.1 points, 2 assists), and Sydni Brandon (6.5 points, 6.5 rebounds) are also players to watch during Friday night's matchup.
 
ABOUT WESTERN COLORADO: The Mountaineers are tied for fourth place in RMAC standing and are coming off a split weekend as they lost to Black Hills State 49-47 before beating South Dakota Mines 80-74 on Saturday.
 
The Mountaineers are averaging 61.7 points per game while their defense is ranked second in the conference (behind Mesa) allowing 54.1 points per game. The Mountaineers are shooting 42.6% from the field and 33.5% from the three and also average 36.4 rebounds per game and 12.5 assists per game.
 
The Mountaineers have a well-balanced attack as they are led by Samantha Cole who averages 9.6 points per game and also grabs 4.5 rebounds. Look for Hannah Cooper (9.5 points, 3.3 rebounds), Gabie Doud (8.5 points, 5.7 rebounds), and Katie Dalton (7.8 points, 4 rebounds) in Saturday night's matchup.
 
ABOUT THE COWGIRLS: The Cowgirls are coming off two losses at home last weekend as they fell to Regis and Colorado Christian.
 
The Cowgirls come in to the weekend averaging 57.4 points while allowing 72.3 points per game. On the season, the Cowgirls are shooting 35.7% from the field and 31.5% from three point territory, while also grabbing 31.1 rebounds and 10.8 assists per game.
 
The Cowgirls are led by Jordyn Lewis, who is ranked second in scoring in the RMAC at 18.8 points per game while also grabbing 3.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. Ashley Antone (12.8 points, 6 rebounds), Maiah Rivas (9.1 points, 4.1 assists), and Desiree Forster (7.2 points, 3.1 rebounds) are also Cowgirls to watch during this weekend's contests.
