Cowgirls return to action, host Westminster on Friday, Colorado Mesa on Saturday

LAS VEGAS, N.M. --- The New Mexico Highlands women's basketball team returns from holiday break to host Westminster 3 p.m. Friday and Colorado Mesa 3 p.m. Saturday at Wilson Complex.

COWGIRLS HEADING INTO THE WEEK | 2021-22 STATISTICS
The Cowgirls have dropped five games in a row, including last playing Dec. 18 - a 74-46 loss at Black Hills State - and Dec. 19 - a 68-63 loss at Chadron State.

Jordyn Lewis leads the team in scoring at 12.4 points per game to go along with a team-high 21 3-pointers made. Sana'a Baker is averaging 9.7 points and 4.6 rebounds per game while Maiah Rivas is at 8.0 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.6 steals.

WESTMINSTER HEADING INTO THE WEEK  | 2021-22 STATISTICS
The Griffins after going 1-3 in non-RMAC play are 4-1 in conference action - though their last game was a loss to No. 23 CSU Pueblo 65-54 on Dec. 16.

Ashley Greenwood has been putting up big numbers at 18.1 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.7 steals per game. Sarah McGinley is averaging 14.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists while Abby Mangum is at 12.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.9 steals and 1.2 blocks per contest.

COLORADO MESA HEADING INTO THE WEEK  | 2021-22 STATISTICS
The Mavs enter this week on a four-game winning streak - including a 60-50 win Dec. 18 against No. 23 CSU Pueblo.

CMU has been a two-headed monster when it comes to scoring with Mariah Martin averaging 18.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.2 steals while Daniella Turner is averaging 18.0 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.6 steals.
