Late Goal Defeats Cowgirls In Lakewood On Sunday

Lakewood, Colorado - Colorado Christian scored the only goal of the match midway through the second half to defeat New Mexico Highlands 1-0 on Sunday afternoon in Lakewood. The loss drops the Cowgirls to 0-11-2 overall and 0-8-1 in RMAC play while the Cougars improve to 3-7-4 overall and 2-5-3 in conference actions.

The two teams battled to a scoreless tie at the intermission as freshman goalie Peyton Greener turned away several shots to keep the Cowgirls even at the break. The second half started much the same way as the first half did until the Cougars tallied the lone goal of the match at the 65:04 mark.

Greener currently leads the RMAC with 58 total saves and 8.29 saves per match.

The Cowgirls host their final home matches of the 2023 season this coming weekend beginning with a 3:00 pm match with the University of Colorado - Colorado Springs on Friday. Then, on Sunday afternoon, Colorado State University - Pueblo visits Las Vegas for a 1:00 pm contest.

Tickets for both matches are available at NMHUAthletics.com/Tickets.
