Las Vegas, New Mexico - The New Mexico Highlands women's basketball team dropped an 81-66 decision to West Texas A&M on Tuesday afternoon in the Wilson Complex. The Cowgirls drop to 1-3 while the Lady Buffs improve to 3-3.
West Texas A&M jumped out to a 23-9 lead after the opening quarter and extended their lead to 38-18 at the half enroute to the final margin of victory.
The Cowgirls were 24-58 from the floor, drained five three pointers and went 8 for 12 from the free throw line on Tuesday.
Individually,
Eva Ongoongotau led the way with a game high 17 points on a 7-12 performance from the floor. She added a pair of rebounds and two steals on the afternoon.
Vanessa Herrera was also in double figures with 10 points for NMHU.
Delani Harris led NMHU with six rebounds.
The Cowgirls travel to Española to play Northern New Mexico this coming Monday afternoon. Tip-off at the Eagle Memorial Sportsplex is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
