Las Vegas, New Mexico - The New Mexico Highlands women's basketball team kicks-off the 2023-24 RMAC portion of the schedule this weekend as Colorado Christian and Chadron State visit Las Vegas for games Friday and Saturday evening. Tip time in the Wilson Complex is 5:00 pm for both games.
Colorado Christian, 4-2 on the season, is led by sophomore Maggie Hutka who is scoring 16.8 points per game. Dasiya Jones is averaging 7.7 rebounds per outing to pace the Cougars. As a team the Colorado Christian scores 68.3 points per game while holding their opponents to 64.3 per game. In the last meeting in the series, Colorado Christian edged NMHU 78-71 last February in Las Vegas.
Chadron State comes to town with an overall record of 2-2 this season. Junior Ashayla Powers is averaging 13.8 points per game to and grabbing 5.8 rebounds to pace the Eagles. Chadron State is scoring 72.0 points per game through their first four outings of the season. The Cowgirls and Eagles split their two meetings last season with each team winning on its home court. Chadron State will play at CSU-Pueblo on Friday evening before making their way to Las Vegas for Saturday's game.
