Las Vegas, New Mexico - The New Mexico Highlands University soccer team closed out their two game home stand with a loss to Westminster University on Sunday afternoon at Sanchez Family Stadium.
NMHU is now 0-5-1 and 0-2-0 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play while Westminster improves to 4-2-1 overall and 2-0-0 in conference action.
The visiting Griffins jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first half. Junior
Paige Gowen put the Cowgirls on the scoreboard in the opening moments of the second half as she recorded her second goal of the season. Westminster would account for the rest of the scoring in the second half enroute to a 6-1 win.
NMHU is on the road next week for a pair of RMAC matches. On Friday evening the have a 5:00 pm match at Fort Lewis College in Durango. Then on Sunday afternoon they are in Gunnison to square-off against Western Colorado University at 1:00 pm.
