Portales, New Mexico - New Mexico Highlands University soccer team dropped its season opening match 2-1 at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales on Wednesday evening.
The two teams found themselves locked in a defensive battle for over 80 minutes until ENMU broke the scoreless tie at the 84:50 mark.
Katy Rayner scored for the Cowgirls just eleven seconds later to even the match up at 1-1. The Greyhounds answered back at 88:30 to secure the final margin of victory.
Up next, the Cowgirls return to action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to face Lubbock Christian University. Match time is scheduled for 12:00 pm MT.
