Cowgirls Host MSU-Denver And Colorado Mines

Las Vegas, New Mexico - The New Mexico Highlands women's basketball team returns home for a pair of RMAC contests this weekend as MSU-Denver and nationally ranked Colorado Mines visit the Wilson Complex.

MSU-Denver is 2-9 overall and 1-5 in RMAC action this season. Sophomore Miklylah Espinosa leads the Roadrunners in scoring at 11.2 points per game this season. Brianna Sealy is the team's leading rebounder at 6.7 per game. As a team the Roadrunners score 51.4 points per game while allowing 63.8. MSU-Denver won the only meeting between the two teams last season 62-51 at the Auraria Event Center.

The Colorado School of Mines, currently ranked #8 in the WBCA Division II poll, is 12-1 overall and a perfect 7-0 in conference play. The leading scorer for the Orediggers is senior Ashley Steffeck who is averaging 18.3 points per outing. She also leads Colorado Mines in rebounding at 6.7 per game. Saturday's matchup between the two teams will be the 68th all time meeting with the series history tied at 34 wins each. The Oresdiggers play at CSU-Pueblo on Friday before making the trip to Las Vegas.

Last weekend the Cowgirls won at Westminster on Friday evening before losing to Colorado Mesa on Saturday. Their season record stands at 4-10 overall and 3-5 in the RMAC. Sophomore Juliana Aragon is averaging 11.8 points and 3.6 assists per game to lead NMHU. Aja Scott (6.4) and Neysa Munguia (6.3) lead NMHU in rebounding. The Cowgirls are number five in the RMAC in field goal defense at .376.

Coming up Tuesday evening, the Cowgirls make their second trip of the year to Pueblo for a 5:30 pm game at CSU-Pueblo.
