Las Vegas, New Mexico - The Cowboys closed out the 202 campaign with a 48-31 loss to Black Hill State on Saturday afternoon. NMHU ended the season at 2-9 overall and 2-7 in the conference.
The Cowboys held a 25-17 at the halftime break thanks to three
Joey Cave touchdown runs. Freshman
Tevita Valeti also hit pay-dirt in the first half.
The lone score in the second half of the game came courtesy of a three yard touchdown run by
Malik Norman.
Norman rushed for a career high 125 yards on 17 carries on Saturday. Valeti had 23 yards rushing and 86 yards receiving. In addition to the three rushing scores, Cave completed 11 passes for 124 yards.
Teneil Nichols had five catches for 83 yards and
Mike Jones added three catches for 64 yards.
Fabiano Valdez and Adrian Bonila were the leading tacklers for NMHU on Saturday with nine apiece.
Prior to the game the seniors on this year's team were recognized as part of the Senior Day presented by Quality Care festivities.
