Las Vegas, New Mexico - The New Mexico Highlands women's basketball team plays it's 2024-25 home opener on Monday evening when the host University of the Southwest. Game time is set for 5:30 pm.
The Cowgirls opened the season going 1-1 at the South Central Regional Challenge in Durango, Colorado two weekends ago. NMHU lost to Eastern New Mexico 74-63 on Friday and bounced back on Saturday to beat Western New Mexico 80-60.
Through two games,
Juliana Aragon is NMHU's leading scorer at 13.5 points per game. She also leads the team at 6.0 assists per outing.
Kapiolani Anitielu is averaging 13.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.
The Cowgirls are led by first year head coach
Lindsey Fearing.
Monday's game with University of the Southwest is the first meeting between the two teams in nearly two years. The Cowgirls beat the Mustangs 71-67 on November 23, 2022, in the last game in the series.
