Las Vegas, New Mexico - The Cowgirls are on the road this weekend as they head to Canyon, Texas, to play in the Lady Buff Thanksgiving Classic against UT-Permian Basin on Friday morning and host West Texas A&M on Saturday afternoon.
NMHU enters play this weekend at 2-2 overall.
Through four games, junior
Juliana Aragon leads the Cowgirls with 15.3 points and 5.0 assists per outing. She is eighth in scoring and second in assists in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Also in double figures for NMHU is freshman
Kapiolani Anitielu at 13.5 points per outing. Senior
Eva Ongoongotau leads the team in rebounding at 5.8 per game.
Friday's opponent UT-Permian Basin is 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the Lone Star Conference as they defeated Angelo State 67-57 in their conference opener a week ago. Taysha Ruston leads the Falcons in scoring at 15.5 per game. Khiara Flugence is the team's leading rebounder at 6.5 per game. Friday's game marks the fourth all-time meeting between the two schools with the Cowgirls holding a 2-1 edge in the previous meetings.
On Saturday afternoon NMHU faces off against host West Texas A&M. The Lady Buffs are 4-2 overall and 0-1 in the Lone Star Conference. They lost at Eastern New Mexico last Saturday 74-57 to open conference play. Kyla Kane leads West Texas A&M in scoring at 14.7 points per game. Taylor Haggen is the leading rebounder for the Lady Buffs at 6.2 per outing. The Lady Buffs beat NMHU last year in historic Las Vegas 81-55 on November 21st.

The Cowgirls open RMAC play on December 5th hosting Regis in a 5:00 pm contest in the Wilson Complex.
