Las Vegas, New Mexico - The Cowgirls put together a solid second half and pulled away from Westminster 68-57 on Saturday evening in the Wilson Complex. The win improved the NMHU record to 6-20 overall and 5-15 in the RMAC. The Griffins are 3-25 overall and 1-19 in the conference.
Westminster held a 32-31 lead at the half time break on Saturday. The Cowgirls outscored the visitors 22-13 in the third quarter and took the lead for good on a jumper by
Eva Ongoongotau midway through the quarter.
The Cowgirls shot 41% from the floor and made five three pointers on Saturday. They won the rebounding battle 36-29.
Juliana Aragon led all scorers with 24 points, she also had three assists in the contest. Ongoongotau was the game's leading rebounder with 11.
Maiah Rivas was also in double figures with 13 points.
NMHU closes out the 2023-24 season with games at Regis and UCCS this coming weekend.
