Las Vegas, New Mexico - The Cowboys opened up the 2024 campaign with a 63-37 setback to Eastern New Mexico on Thursday night at Sanchez Family Stadium.
A strong opening quarter and fourth quarter carried the visiting Greyhounds to the season opening win as they put 21 points on the scoreboard in each of those frames.
Joey Cave and
Teneil Nichols connect on a 55 yard strike to get the Cowboys first score of the season midway through the opening quarter.
Senior
Joey Cave finished the night with a career high 263 yards passing and three touchdown passes on the night. He added 25 yards and a score on the ground.

Eusebio Goncalves, and
Cayden Walton each caught a touchdown pass for the Cowboys.
Mason Peterson carried the ball 18 times for 125 yards in his first game for NMHU.
Defensively
Fabiano Valdez led the Cowboys with seven tackles.
Jagger Mosqueda and
Charles O'Neal added four and three tackles respectively.
Arick McLawyer and
Rylee Jarratt combined for an NMHU sack midway through the opening quarter.
Up next, the Cowboys travel to Silver City for the 2024 edition of La Batalla Bowl on September 14th. Kick-off is set for 6:00 pm.
